Chris Klein (born Frederick Christopher Klein on March 14, 1979 in Hinsdale, Illinois) is a United States actor best known for his roles in American Pie, Election, and Here on Earth.
Klein grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois, and moved to Omaha, Nebraska, as a teenager. In high school, he distinguished himself as a football player and actor. As a senior in high school, Klein was offered his first professional acting job by director Alexander Payne, who was scouting Millard West High School as a potential filming location.
Klein went on to attend Texas Christian University, where he majored in Dramatic Arts.
In the middle of 2003, Klein appeared on Punk'd after he was tricked by Ashton Kutcher into believing that his house had been seized by a terrorist.
In early 2004 he became engaged to Katie Holmes, but as of early 2005 the engagement was broken off.
In February 2005, Klein was arrested for drunk driving and a misdemeanor account.
