Charisma Carpenter (born July 23, 1970) is an American actress. She is best known for playing the character Cordelia Chase in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel.
Carpenter was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was discovered by a commercial agent while she was then a waitress, leading to several roles on TV adverts. She has made guest appearances in Baywatch, Miss Match and has had a role in Malibu Shores.
In 2002 she got married to Damian Hardy and on March 24, 2003 she gave birth to a boy, Donovan Charles Hardy.
Carpenter posed for the June 2004 issue of Playboy magazine.
She has also starred in the popular witch drama, and close counterpart of Buffy: Charmed, as, like her role in Angel, a Seer. Ironically she plays a character named Anya, the name of a Buffy character and wishes that the Elders (a Charmed version of Angel's the The Powers That Be) would make her human (similarly to Buffy's own Anya character).
